Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Thursday Night Football" Keeps NBC in Top Spot

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/15/16):

NBC (9.869 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) once again rode to victory behind its "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (9.027 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.037 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #2).

CBS (8.365 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was the silver draw with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (15.771 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.3, #1), "The Great Indoors" (8.327 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4), "Mom" (8.177 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5), "Life in Pieces" (6.889 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) and "Pure Genius" (5.515 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7).

Next up was ABC (3.378 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its holiday lineup of "Disney Prep & Landing" (3.791 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" (3.263 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (3.635 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and a special "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (2.972 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.929 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) opted for repeats of "Hell's Kitchen" (2.105 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12) and another "Hell's Kitchen" (1.754 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13).

And finally, the annual "iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2016" (1.147 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) and a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.965 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) closed out the evening for The CW (1.102 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.3 rating in metered-market households, delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.5 in 18-49, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.8 rating in metered-market households and a 0.3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/17/15):

CBS (9.693 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its original mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (17.379 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.1, #1), "Life in Pieces" (11.174 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2), "Mom" (9.550 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), "2 Broke Girls" (7.336 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4) and "Elementary" (6.360 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5).

NBC (3.054 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then claimed the silver with encores of "How Murray Saved Christmas" (2.170 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) and "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale" (3.477 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) plus a special "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (3.517 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).
