ABC's Tuesday Finales Finish Up in Adults 18-49

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (8-9pm - 5.2 million and 1.9/6 in AD18-49):

During the 8 o'clock hour opposite season finale competition, ABC's first season finale of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was up 6% from its week-ago Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating (1.9/6 vs. 1.8/6 Fast Affiliate on 5/6/14, which rose 1-tenth in the Nationals). Please Note: S.H.I.E.L.D. regularly increases from the preliminary Fast Affiliate numbers to the L+SD National ratings, rising between 1-2-tenths in Adults 18-49.

· Against the season finale of CBS' NCIS, NBC's The Voice and Fox's Glee finale, S.H.I.E.L.D. ranked #2 in its hour across all key Men (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54), while finishing as the #1 scripted series in its slot with Men 18-34 on all 22 original airings in its first season. On average during its freshman season, the new ABC drama was Tuesday's #1 TV show this season with key Men (M18-34/M18-49).

· S.H.I.E.L.D. improved its time period by 73% in Adults 18-49 year to year, surging over the same night last year with original programming.

The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm - 4.1 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):

During the 9pm half-hour, ABC's freshman season finale of The Goldbergs was up 8% week to week in Adults 18-49 to equal its 2nd-highest rating since the beginning of April - since 4/1/14. The ABC comedy also increased over the prior week in Adults 18-34 (+11%) and Women 18-49 (+23%).

Trophy Wife (9:30-10pm - 2.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

During the 9:30pm half-hour, ABC's Trophy Wife finale was up week to week by 12% in Total Viewers and by 29% in Adults 18-49.

Celebrity Wife Swap (10-11pm - 2.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

At 10pm, Celebrity Wife Swap held steady week to week in Adults 18-49 and was up for the 2nd consecutive week with Women 18-49 (+8%) to tie a season high.

During the 9:00 p.m. half-hour, ABC's freshman season finale of "The Goldbergs" was up 8% week to week in Adults 18-49 to equal its 2nd-highest rating since the beginning of April - since 4/1/14. The ABC comedy also increased over the prior week in Adults 18-34 (+11%) and Women 18-49 (+23%).

· On the night, ABC's freshman finale of "The Goldbergs" essentially tied NBC's freshman finale of "About a Boy" (9:30-10:00 p.m.) in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4 vs. 1.5/4 - pacing within 1-tenth and tied in share). In fact in the Live + 7 Day ratings, "The Goldbergs" will move well ahead of "About a Boy," as the ABC comedy gets a much bigger average increase this season from its Live + Same Day number than the NBC comedy (+0.9 rating or 53% vs. +0.5 rating or 25%).

"Trophy Wife" (9:30-10:00 p.m. - 2.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

During the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "Trophy Wife" finale was up week to week by 12% in Total Viewers and by 29% in Adults 18-49.

"Celebrity Wife Swap" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 2.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., "Celebrity Wife Swap" held steady week to week in Adults 18-49 and was up for the 2nd consecutive week with Women 18-49 (+8%) to tie a season high.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year- to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
