CBS NEWS "48 HOURS MYSTERY" WAS THE NIGHT'S #1 PROGRAM IN HOUSEHOLDS AND VIEWERS ON SATURDAY, JAN. 17
On Saturday, Jan. 17, CBS News 48 HOURS MYSTERY (10:00-11:00 PM ET) posted a 4.3/08 in households with 6.47m viewers to become the night's #1 program in both measures. Compared to the same week last year, 48 HOURS MYSTERY was up +19% in households, +6% in adults 25-54 and +8% in adults 18-49.
The broadcast, entitled "Peace, Love and Murder," shared the story of Toni Heartsong, who was brutally stabbed to death in her own home. The key suspect was her husband Bob, a self-proclaimed peace-loving "hippie," but he had a seemingly air-tight alibi more than forty miles away. The trail went cold for more than six years until a determined detective reopened the case in the hope that new DNA technology could help uncover her killer. But when the case went to trial last fall, the validity of the DNA came into question, and Bob Heartsong was acquitted of his wife's murder. Correspondent Harold Dow spoke with both Bob and jury members to try to determine just who killed Toni Heartsong.
Susan Zirinsky is the executive producer of 48 HOURS MYSTERY.
