Norah O'Donnell Named Anchor and Managing Editor of the "CBS Evening News," "60 Minutes" Contributing Correspondent and Anchor of Political Event Coverage

John Dickerson to Report for "60 Minutes" and Contribute to CBS News' Election Specials

CBS News President and Senior Executive Producer Susan Zirinsky today announced a new weekday anchor lineup naming Norah O'Donnell Anchor and Managing Editor of the CBS EVENING NEWS and Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil Co-Hosts of CBS THIS MORNING.

The new CBS THIS MORNING team launches May 20. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O'DONNELL debuts this summer in New York and moves to its permanent home in Washington, D.C. this fall. Moving the CBS EVENING NEWS to Washington adds to the importance and stature of the broadcast and will give CBS News unique access to top lawmakers, whose decisions have a profound impact on all Americans.

"This is a start of a new era for CBS News," said Zirinsky. "Our job is to reveal America to itself through original reporting, strong investigative journalism and powerful political coverage."

O'Donnell, a highly respected, award-winning journalist, has covered the most significant events of our time and conducted news-making interviews with global leaders and newsmakers from all industries during her distinguished career. In addition to her new role as anchor of the CBS EVENING NEWS, O'Donnell will also serve as the venerable broadcast's managing editor. O'Donnell will be the Network's lead anchor for political coverage of the primaries and election nights and continue as a contributing correspondent for 60 MINUTES, the most-watched news broadcast.

King, an award-winning journalist and broadcaster who has co-hosted CBS THIS MORNING since 2012, will be teamed with two exceptional co-hosts, Mason and Dokoupil. Mason, who has most recently anchored CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY, has covered the world throughout his 33 years at CBS News from war zones to critical interviews. His curiosity and interests in a wide range of subjects from music, culture, science and literature will be on full display through his interviews and reporting each day. Dokoupil completes the team. He has established himself at CBS SUNDAY MORNING doing powerful and provocative cover stories and pieces for all CBS News programs. He's an inspiring writer and interviewer, and passionate about journalism and the stories we tell every day. He'll bring a new energy and perspective to the table. His creative voice and hard-working and authentic style will create a dynamic chemistry with Gayle and Anthony.

Dickerson, a preeminent journalist and author who has delivered ground-breaking political reporting with depth and perspective throughout his career, will join 60 MINUTES, the most respected news program in the country, as a correspondent. He will also have a key role as a contributing anchor to the Network's political coverage of primary and election nights. He will continue to be based in New York.

· Norah O'Donnell is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who joined CBS News in 2011 as CBS News chief White House correspondent. She was named co-host of CBS THIS MORNING in July 2012. She also contributes to 60 MINUTES. As a journalist for more than two decades, she has covered six presidential elections and traveled around the globe to interview some of the world's most notable leaders, including six of the last seven U.S. presidents. O'Donnell has conducted numerous interviews with newsmakers, including President Donald Trump, President Barack Obama, Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker Paul Ryan, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, the Dalai Lama and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. O'Donnell has also landed exclusive 60 MINUTES interviews with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. She covered the historic election of Pope Francis in Vatican City as well as his first Apostolic Voyage to the United States. · Gayle King is an experienced television journalist who interviews top newsmakers and delivers original reporting to CBS THIS MORNING and all CBS News broadcasts and platforms. She joined CBS News in 2011 prior to the January 2012 launch of the CBS News morning news broadcast. She is also editor-at-large of the award-winning O, the Oprah Magazine. At CBS News, King has conducted revealing and news-making interviews with world leaders, political figures and celebrities. Recently, King has scored a string of high-profile and competitive interviews. She sat down for an explosive and exclusive interview with R& B singer R. Kelly and a separate interview with Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage, the two young women living with him in Chicago. The interviews were made into a CBS primetime special, which was that evening's #1 program in the timeslot in all key demographics. King had the exclusive interviews with the director of the Michael Jackson documentary "Leaving Neverland," as well as the accusers and members of the Jackson's family, who had not participated in the documentary. · Anthony Mason has been the co-host of CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY and a frequent contributor to CBS SUNDAY MORNING. Mason is one of the most experienced and versatile correspondents in television news. He's interviewed Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon. He's profiled Federal Reserve chairmen Alan Greenspan and Paul Volcker. And he's perhaps best known for his interviews with many of the most prominent musicians of our time, including Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Adele, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Cher, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. He has also profiled performers Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Goldblum, Emily Blunt, Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johansson. · Tony Dokoupil has been a correspondent for CBS News based in New York and a regular contributor to CBS SUNDAY MORNING since 2016. Dokoupil's writing and interviewing skills place him among the best in the business. His probing interview with First Lady Hillary Clinton made international headlines when he asked her whether her husband should have resigned in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. "Absolutely not," Clinton said. His cover stories for CBS SUNDAY MORNING include features on the scourge of suicide, the promise and peril of electronic cigarettes, and a successful rehab program for drug- and alcohol-addicted airline pilots. Dokoupil also served as substitute anchor on CBSN, the CBS WEEKEND NEWS, and CBS THIS MORNING. Before CBS News, he spent three years as a correspondent for MSNBC. There, he was the Network's lead reporter on a run of big national stories, including the Paris climate agreement and the Flint water crisis. He also covered the 2016 presidential primaries. · John Dickerson joined CBS THIS MORNING in January 2018. Prior to that, he was CBS News' chief Washington correspondent and anchor of FACE THE NATION. Dickerson is also a co-host of Slate's "Political Gabfest" and "Whistlestop" podcasts as well as a contributing editor to The Atlantic. Dickerson joined CBS News in April 2009, as an analyst and contributor. For six years, he served as the Network's political director and was moderator of FACE THE NATION from June 2015 to January 2018. During the 2016 presidential campaign, he moderated CBS News' two presidential debates, and as host of FACE THE NATION he interviewed each of the major candidates multiple times. Dickerson has been a reporter in Washington since 1995, covering the White House, Congress and economics. From 2005 to 2015, he was Slate magazine's chief political correspondent. Before Slate, Dickerson covered politics for 12 years for Time magazine. During his last four years, he was the magazine's White House correspondent, covering the presidency of George W. Bush. He has covered the last six presidential campaigns. Dickerson is the author of On Her Trail (Simon and Schuster), a book about his mother.
