CATCH-22 (New!) - George Clooney is set to make the rounds with a six-part adaptation of the seminal World War II Joseph Heller novel, which he'll direct and star. Luke Davies and David Michod are also among the auspices on the project, from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content. (THR.com)
COOL KIDS (FOX) - Vicki Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Leslie Jordan and Martin Mull are the first to be cast in the multi-camera retirement community comedy pilot with Don Scardino set to direct from a script by Charlie Day and Paul Fruchbom. Lawrence will play Margaret, "the brash, hotheaded new arrival to the retirement community who thinks that the "Cool Kids" are a trio of cheesepuffs that she can easily herd, corral, and buffalo"; with Grier as Hank, "a mischievous schemer and one of the "Cool Kids" living in Shady Meadows retirement community with his three best friends from his childhood in Brooklyn"; Jordan as Sid, "a cautious hypochondriac with a weird streak about him who grew up in Brooklyn along with Hank and Charlie, and he's spending his Golden Years alongside them as well"; and Mull as Charlie, "the gruff third "Cool Kid" who is not a leader like Hank nor a follower like Sid, but who tends to go along with the consensus of the group." (Deadline.com)
DIETLAND (AMC) - Adam Rothenberg is set as the male lead on the upcoming drama as "a rough-around-the-edges NYPD detective whose investigation into a hack at Austen Media gives him far more than he bargained for, including an unexpected emotional and intellectual attraction to Plum." (Deadline.com)
FLIGHT 410 (ABC, New!) - Jill Blankenship ("The Last Ship") has booked a potential drama at the Alphabet in which "after a commercial flight vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean, a disgraced journalist whose wife was on the plane is driven to solve the mystery as he leads an unconventional group with other family members left behind." ABC Studios-based Stearns Castle is behind the hour with the company's Michael McDonald likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
LOPEZ/THROWING SHADE (TV Land) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on both series. George Lopez starred in the former, which wrapped its run back in June. (Deadline.com)
MERCURY 13 (Amazon, New!) - Liz Hannah (The Post) is spearheading an event series at the streaming service based on Martha Ackmann's book of the same name, subtitled "The Untold Story of 13 American Women and the Dream of Space Flight." Bradley Whitford, Greenlight Management's Adena Chawke, Pascal Pictures' Amy Pascal and Star Thrower Entertainment's Tim and Trevor White are also on board to executive produce. Allan Mandelbaum is a co-executive producer with P.J. Roth as a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
ONE HIT WENDY (FOX, New!) - Julianne Hough is attached to star in a single-camera comedy for the network about Wendy (Hough), "a one-hit wonder who peaked at 18, who tries to guide her talented niece, Jordan, through the music industry and keep her from making the same mistakes she made." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the project, which has a put pilot commitment. Lesley Wake Webster is penning the script and will executive produce alongside Hough and Diane Warren as well as KatzSmith's David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith. (Deadline.com)
SPLITTING UP TOGETHER (ABC) - Geoff Pierson will recur on the midseason comedy as Henry, "the wry and supportive father of Lena (Jenna Fischer) who sees clearly that his daughter has control issues." (Deadline.com)
STRIPES (CBS, New!) - Trevor Moore, Sam Brown and Zach Cregger have sold a small screen take on Ivan Reitman's 1981 film to the Eye. The single-camera project "focuses on a perennial rebellious outsider who finally finds his purpose in life when he joins the U.S. military and must unite a group of ragtag eccentrics." Reitman himself is attached to direct and executive produce via his The Montecito Picture Company alongside Julius Goldy Sharpe and Tom Pollock, with Amie Karp and Peter Fried producing for Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
TAKE TWO (ABC, New!) - Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian are set to topline a new drama at the Alphabet about "Ella, the former star of a hit cop series who's fresh-out-of-rehab following a bender of epic proportion. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing rough-and-tumble private investigator Eddie as research for a potential comeback role. Though lonewolf Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Ella proves herself to be surprisingly valuable, drawing on her acting skills and 200 episodes of playing a detective. When the press touts Ella's role in solving a high-profile case, Eddie finds his phone ringing off the hook with new clients looking to hire the pair." Milmar Pictures' Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller are behind the ABC Studios-based project, which has a straight-to-series order. StudioCanal Television's Rola Bauer and Tandem Productions' Tim Halkin will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CHRIS MURPHEY PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Chris Murphey ("Body of Proof") has sold a new drama to the Peacock, which "centers on the Medical Investigation Crime Unit, led by dynamic pathologist Dr. Kim Verhoven and a team of medical experts who investigate medical crimes around the country."
