BULL (CBS) - Archie Panjabi will drop by the new season of the Michael Weatherly-led drama as Arti Cander, "a successful former D.C. lobbyist who's more than a worthy adversary for him. She knows how to read a jury as well as he does, and is ready to prove to everyone that Bull isn't the only trial scientist in town." (EW.com)
CARNIVAL ROW (Amazon) - David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Indira Varma and Tamzin Merchant are the latest additions to the upcoming Orlando Bloom/Cara Delevingne-led drama. Gyasi will play Agreus, "a mysteriously wealthy faun who moves into an affluent human neighborhood in defiance of the social order"; with Crome as Tourmaline, "a quick-witted faerie love poet driven from her war-torn homeland and forced to work in a brothel on Carnival Row"; Varma as Piety Breakspear, "the regal and cunning matriarch of the powerful family that rules the city of the Burgue"; and Merchant as Imogen Spurnrose, "a young woman who sees in Agreus an opportunity to turn her aristocratic family's fading fortunes around." CHICAGO P.D. (NBC) - Peacock siblings USA Network and Oxygen Media have purchased the off-network rights to the drama in a deal valued at $500,000 an episode. Said run will begin on both networks next month beginning with all-day marathons on Sunday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 3, respectively. (Deadline.com)
FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY (CW Seed) - Russell Tovey has been tapped to play Raymond Terrill, a.k.a. DC Comics hero The Ray, "a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction." He'll headline the animated series as well as appear in live-action during the just announced "Crisis on Earth-X" four-part crossover on The CW, airing Monday, November 27 and Tuesday, November 28. GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Tamlyn Tomita's Allegra Aoki, "the chairman and Vice President of the foundation that controls St. Bonaventure Hospital," has been promoted to series regular on the newcomer. (Deadline.com)
HAPPY! (Syfy) - Debi Mazar and Michael Maize will both drop by the newcomer as Isabella Scaramucci, "a calculating, dripping-in-Dolce mother who is dead-set on exacting revenge"; and Le Dic, "a terrifying arms dealer with a cutting sense of humor," respectively. (Deadline.com)
HOLD FAST (The CW, New!) - Dana Stevens ("Reckless") has set up a potential drama at the netlet billed as "an epic love story told in two timelines, about an injured Union soldier in the Reconstruction-era South who awakens reincarnated in present-day Charleston. With rapidly diminishing knowledge of his past life, our hero must navigate present-day relationships - including a fiance he doesn't remember - while uncovering what happened to his past love and searching for her." Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter also serve as executive producers via their Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions. (Deadline.com)
OUR KIND OF PEOPLE (FOX, New!) - Wendy Calhoun ("Empire") has set up a potential drama at the network billed as "a multi-generational family drama uncovering the lives of America's black upper class by chronicling a dazzling Chicago dynasty with a dark secret threatening to rip it apart." The 20th Century Fox Television project is based on Lawrence Otis Graham's non-fiction book of the same name, subtitled "Inside America's Black Upper Class." Ben Silverman and Montrel McKay will also executive produce. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED CARRIE GOLDBERG PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Jennifer Cecil ("Private Practice") is spearheading a new drama at the Eye based on the life of attorney Carrie Goldberg: "a young lawyer in Brooklyn who, after enduring vicious online and offline attacks herself, opens her own firm to place herself and her team on the front lines of defending victims of crimes in the age of the Internet where the law hasn't yet caught up with technology." Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios are both behind the hour with Cecil, Goldberg, Michelle Sy and Sophia Chang as well as Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steven Tisch executive producing. UNTITLED JOSH MALMUTH PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Josh Malmuth ("Superstore") has sold a potential comedy to the Peacock which "centers around an unlicensed bar that a woman runs out of her backyard." UNTITLED MORGAN & SIEGAL PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Josh Siegal and Dylan Morgan ("The Good Place") are set to team with "Hamilton" producer Jeffrey Seller at the Peacock for "a half-hour comedy musical set in New York City." The Universal Television-based project has a put pilot commitment with Fremulon's Michael Schur, Seller Suarez Productions' Flody Suarez and 3 Arts Entertainment's David Miner also set to executive produce. UNTITLED SPENCER PAYSINGER PROJECT (The CW, New!) - April Blair ("Reign") is developing a new drama at the netlet inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger: "a rising high school football player from South Central L.A. When he is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, the wins, losses and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds - Compton and Beverly Hills - begin to collide." L.A. Galaxy soccer player Robbie Rogers will serve as a producer on the project, which is set up at Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter's Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions. UNTITLED TREVOR ENGELSON PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Writer Danny Zuker and director Christine Gernon are spearheading a single-camera comedy at the network billed as: "Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London's tabloid media, is next level." The 20th Century Fox Television-based project is inspired by the real-life events of Underground Films' Trevor Engelson, "the ex-husband of actress Meghan Markle who has been dating Britain's Prince Harry." Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar and Farah Films' Dan Farah also serve as executive producers on the project, which has a put pilot commitment. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED VALI CHANDRASEKARAN PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Vali Chandrasekaran ("Modern Family") has booked a put pilot commitment at the network for a new single-camera comedy about "three typical Minnesotan families - a household of African refugees, a household of outdoorsy Midwesterners and a young interracial couple - testing the idea that we are all more alike than we are different." The project is based on Yossi Vassa, Shai Ben-Atar and Liat Shavit's Israeli format "Nevsu: A Young Multicultural Couple." 20th Century Fox Television and Endemol Shine North America are behind the half-hour with Lee Daniels of Lee Daniels Entertainment, Pam Williams and Marc Velez also executive producing.
