Beverly Hills, Calif., August 02, 2012 - Beginning this fall, ENCORE will present "The Big Miniseries Showcase," a mix of classic and new critically acclaimed miniseries on Monday nights at 8pm ET/PT. The slate will debut with the U.S. television premiere of the ENCORE Original miniseries, "The Crimson Petal and the White." The BAFTA nominated two-part drama will premiere on Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11 at 8pm ET/PT.

In addition to "The Crimson Petal and the White," ENCORE's "The Big Miniseries Showcase" will also include Monday night premieres of Stephan King's "The Storm of the Century," "Shogun," "The Pillars of the Earth," "Lonesome Dove," the "Thorne" mysteries, "Moby Dick," "Thorn Birds," the U.S. television premiere of the ENCORE Original miniseries "Titanic: Blood and Steel," and more.

"The Crimson Petal and the White," nominated for two BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards (Best Actress for Romola Garai, and Best Mini Series), is an adaptation of Michel Faber's 2002 bestselling novel. It's an alluring, seductive drama that reveals the underbelly of Victorian-era London and the travails of a prostitute named Sugar, played by Romola Garai, ("The Hour," Atonement, Amazing Grace). Chris O'Dowd (Friends with Kids, Bridesmaids) stars as William Rackham, along with Gillian Anderson ("The X-Files") as brothel proprietor Mrs. Castaway, Amanda Hale ("Ripper Street") as William's disturbed wife Mrs. Rackham, Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter 2002, 2005) as Mrs. Emmeline Fox, and Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I) as Dr. Curlew, Mrs. Rackham's medical consultant.

"Shogun" - John Blackthorne, an English ship pilot, whose Vessel wrecked upon the Japanese coast in the early 17th century, is forced to deal with the two most powerful men in Japan. He is thrown in the midst of a war between Toranaga and Ishido, who struggle for the title of 'Shogun' which will give ultimate power to the one who possesses it.

September 24 - 27 at 8pm
"The Pillars of the Earth" - the EMMY(R) nominated miniseries which originally debuted on STARZ, is a sweeping epic tale of good and evil, treachery and intrigue, violence and beauty. This sensuous, spirited and passionate story is set against a backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles during the great Anarchy of 12th century England.

October 1 & 2 at 8pm
Jason and the Argonauts - Jason faces monsters and daunting tasks in a quest to find the Golden Fleece and reclaim his father's kingdom in ancient Greece.

October 8 - 13 at 8pm
Titanic: Blood and Steel - the ENCORE U.S. television premiere of this Original miniseries, illustrates a fascinating account of the often untold story behind the making of the now infamous luxury liner. It's a six part mini-series about the men and women who built, ran and owned the Titanic. To the wealthy who invested in the now infamous liner, it was a dream. But to the middle class who managed its construction, and the working class who were charged with building the ship, it was an epic challenge that marked the beginning of the industrial revolution.

October 15 & 16 at 8pm
Gulliver's Travels - an Englishman returns after a long time abroad and tells his strange stories about the lands he visited which are allegories about the real world.

October 22 & 23 at 8pm
Aftershock: Earthquake in New York - based on the book by Chuck Scarborough, New York City is trapped in a nightmare of horror and destruction when a massive earthquake rocks the unsuspecting city. Countless lives are lost, families are torn apart, and chaos runs rampant, as the mayor and former Fire Chief race to enact a city-wide emergency plan. An incredible story of undying courage in the face of unimaginable human tragedy.

October 29 - 31 at 8pm
Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" - the town of Little Tall Island is about to witness one of the most powerful blizzards in history. Exits from the island are completely blocked, denying access to the outside world. While the town awaits the passing of the storm, a town resident is brutally murdered by André Linoge, an inmate being held in the local town holding prison. Linoge begins to unleash a terrifying reign of terror on the small town. The only clue to what he wants lies in the town's children.

November 5 & 6 at 8pm
Moby Dick - critically acclaimed miniseries that previously aired on ENCORE, reveals the famous tale about the most merciless campaign of revenge in seafaring history sails into port. Propelled by endless hatred, the one-legged Captain Ahab and his sailing companions hunt the mysterious white whale Moby Dick across the seven seas - the vastness of the ocean, the excitement of the hunt, and the tensions of a crew trapped by one man's blood lust propel this exciting story.

November 12 & 13 at 8pm
"Stranded" - an updated version of the classic novel "The Swiss Family Robinson," the miniseries chronicles the adventures of the Robinson family as they are caught in a tempest, shipwrecked and marooned on a tropical island, while traveling from their native Switzerland to the United States. Through hard work and ingenuity, the Robinsons and their three sons, Fritz, Ernst and Jacob, adapt to their new environment as the months turn into years. The family experiences encounters with pirates, exotic animals and natural disasters.

November 19 - 22 at 8pm
"Lonesome Dove" - this Western series follows young Newt as he forges a life in a turn-of-the-century Montana town. In 'When Wilt Thou Blow,' he marries a local girl and helps recover railroad gold stolen from the bank by a sly Colonel.

November 26 & 29 at 8pm
"Return to Lonesome Dove" is a sequel to the 1989 "Lonesome Dove," about a former Texas Ranger heading up a mustang drive to Montana.

December 3 & 4 at 8pm
"Alice in Wonderland" - this miniseries is a reimagining of the classic Lewis Carroll stories, taking place about 150 years later with science fiction and additional fantasy elements added. Although this adaptation follows the original story closely, Alice is intended to be a modern interpretation, who imagines how Wonderland might have evolved over the last 143 years.

December 10 - 13 at 8pm
"Thorn Birds" - this dramatic story spans over a half-a-century and begins in 1920 as the Clearys, a New Zealand farming family, migrate to a sheep ranch in the Australian wilderness. There, they encounter tragedy as well as triumph. As the saga continues, Maggie Cleary, a beautiful woman falls in love with a man she can never marry - an outspoken parish priest.

December 17 & 18 at 8pm
"Thorne "Sleepyhead" and "Scaredy Cat," which previously debuted in the U.S. on ENCORE, Throne: Sleepyhead explores the case of three women who have been murdered, and their killer causing them all to have locked in syndrome. A fourth victim survived but cannot communicate. Thorne knows that there are more deaths to come. In Thorne: Scaredy Cat, the bodies of two female victims are found at the same time - killed in the exact same way - Thorne finds himself on the hunt for not one, but two serial killers who seem to be working together, yet killing separately.

December 24 & 25 at 8pm
Noah's Arc - In the Biblical story from the book of Genesis, God floods the world as Noah rescues his family and the animals in a gigantic ark.
