CURRENT TV BOLSTERS ORIGINAL FARE WITH TWO NEW ACQUISITIONS

Basic Cable Premiere of "This American Life" Launches on Monday, January 10; The U.S. Premiere of "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It" Launches on Tuesday, January 11

NEW YORK, December 14, 2010 - Current TV today announced the acquisition of two thought-provoking series that will supplement the network's cutting edge original fare, including the TV version of the Peabody Award winning radio program "This American Life", which makes its basic cable premiere on Monday, January 10th as well as the U.S. television premiere of the edgy, farm-to-table reality series "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It" on Tuesday, January 11th.

"We remain committed to investing in long-form programming that provides compelling storytelling of real life and real life issues," said James DuBern, GM, Network Operations, Current TV. "The acquisition of these hidden gems greatly complements our original fare, with each series offering the same provocative storytelling that has become a hallmark of our network. Our newest acquisitions all deal with real life issues in entertaining ways that allow viewers to see how headline topics impact their lives. We believe each one of these shows will connect with our viewers and are a great fit with our programming lineup."

Acquired series descriptions:

"This American Life" (13 half hour episodes) - Basic Cable Premiere

Monday, January 10 at 10 PM/ET (Airs Mondays at 10 PM/ET).

The televised version of the award-winning Public Radio Show hosted and executive produced by Ira Glass, "This American Life" tells compelling, unscripted first-person stories culled from across America. For the TV show, Glass and a small team of radio producers and filmmakers traveled the country visiting Iowa pig farms, following a first-time filmmaker in California, photographing a raucous night at an Illinois hot dog stand and more. The results are true stories that are dramatic, emotional, and often hilarious.

"Kill It, Cook It, Eat It" (21 one-hour episodes) - U.S. TV Premiere

Tuesday, January 11 at 10 PM/ET (Airs Tuesdays at 10 PM/ET)

This hit series from the UK takes a group of strangers with differing food views on a journey from pasture to plate, be they carnivores or vegans or something in between. Set on an organic farm in a humane environment, "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It" tackles tough issues in a tasteful manner, by involving each person in the group in the integral parts of the process of turning an animal into meat. This resulting series gives viewers an entertaining, educational and sometimes controversial look at our food chain, from selecting an animal and learning how cuts of meat are chosen to cooking it and deciding whether or not to eat it.
